Alliance between Management School and Doncaster Chamber of Commerce makes Executive Education more affordable.

A new partnership between Doncaster Chamber of Commerce and the University of Sheffield will enable Chamber members to access bursaries for a new Executive MBA Programme.

The Executive MBA is designed for management professionals from the private, public and voluntary sectors, who want to progress their careers and gain in-depth management knowledge. The Programme is delivered using multiple approaches to learning and will appeal to people from a wide range of backgrounds and industries. Specifically designed to fit around a full-time job, delegates can apply the theories they learn to the ‘live’ business issues within their own workplace.  The bursary is available to Doncaster Chamber members and is valued at £1580 – equating to ten per cent of the cost of the programme.

The Sheffield EMBA is accredited by the Chartered Management Institute (CMI) which means students receive two prestigious qualifications from one programme – the University of Sheffield Executive MBA and the CMI Executive Diploma in Strategic Management.

Professor Keith Glaister, Dean of the University´s Management School, said: “The Executive MBA complements the University´s already strong links with local organisations. The Management School´s proven track-record for teaching and learning coupled with the chance to gain two prestigious qualifications, means this course is sure to provide many managers with the skills needed to develop their careers.”

John Hudson, Director of Enterprise and Skills at Creative Sheffield and an alumnus University of Sheffield EMBA, said: “The course was of great benefit to me and my organisation. It gave me the opportunity to mix with a range of private sector people from different backgrounds. The flexible structure meant that I didn´t have to spend too much time away from the office and I used my dissertation as a major research project for work.”

“Investing in your people is the only sustainable way to compete in the current troubled economic climate. We are delighted to have entered this partnership with the Doncaster Chamber of Commerce. The Sheffield Executive MBA is an executive qualification that accelerates and stimulates professional development.  It will make an important difference to the careers of individuals on the programme and will contribute to the development of successful businesses in the region” said Prof Lenny Koh, Director of The University of Sheffield Executive MBA.
