Established finance conference heads to Brunei

Following a successful series of conferences, the International Finance and Banking Society (IFABS) are gearing up for their next big event.

Mohamed Shaban, reader in finance at Sheffield University Management School and vice president of IFABS, is a member of the Asia 2016 Brunei Conference Executive Committee. He looks forward to the event which is themed around ‘Corporate Finance Decisions in a Changing Global Environment’.

He said: “IFABS’s next event is in Brunei on 16-18 August, hosted by the Universiti Teknologi Brunei and the Central Bank of Brunei, in collaboration with the Universities of Oxford, Nottingham, Sheffield and Hull.

“The conferences are engaging, interactive events and in Brunei we look forward to welcoming four fantastic keynote speakers from academia and private organisations, alongside other presenters with papers and posters to discuss.”

The conference’s prominent keynote speakers include Prof William Megginson from the University of Oklahoma, Professor Naoyuki Yoshino, Dean of the Asian Development Bank Institute, Yusof Abdul Rahman, Managing Director of Autoriti Monetari Brunei Darussalam, and Ashishkumar Chauhan, CEO of the Bombay Stock Exchange.

A lively social programme runs alongside the conference, also serving as an opportunity to network for impact case collaboration and internationalisation activities. At the last event in June, around 350 delegates attended from over 54 countries, so it a truly international affair.
