The NSS: 10 minutes = your chance to win an iPad mini

We love hearing from our students – final years now have the chance to let us know what we’re doing well, and what we could be doing better.

Honest feedback means that our student experience can be even better for students following in your footsteps. That’s why the National Student Survey (NSS) is conducted in universities across the country – you can make your mark on Sheffield University Management School.

Many changes have already been made in response to 2014’s NSS feedback, from brand new facilities and practical teaching spaces such as the Trading Room, to closer links with the library and greater use of electronic feedback methods.

The Trading Room gives Accounting and Financial Management students the practical skills and experience they need to be able to hit the ground running in the City, without any of the risk usually associated with the industry. The industrial links it brings with Bloomberg, Tower Trading and Lloyds Bank are also hugely valuable to students.

Availability is improving as a whole. The School’s first ‘pop-up library’ event brought the IC to SUMS – we’re working hard to ensure that core texts are available to you when you need them. The new computers in the Courtyard Cafe also mean that you can access computers and print in the School at any time, even when the ICT suite is being used for teaching.

Electronic feedback and assessment continues to develop in the School, as more and more modules embrace the opportunities it provides. Students are now more involved in the process, and we’re developing a toolkit to help you understand feedback and how to act on it.

Last year’s campaign saw our overall student completion rate rocket to 76.1 per cent. This was a fantastic effort from the student body, and we’re putting up some great incentives to try and hit our targets this year.

If 50% of eligible Management School students complete the NSS by 9 March, we will hold a prize draw for five lucky students to win an iPad Mini each – plus the Management Society and Investment Society will share a cash prize of £500 to spend however they want.

The survey takes less than 10 minutes – complete it now and encourage your friends to do so to increase your chances of winning an iPad Mini!
